Inappropriate Johnny Cash songs
Jun. 30th, 2006 10:12 pmI've been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash lately, especially when driving around northern Nevada, as it just seems appropriate. I don't like country music in general, but Johnny Cash just rules. I mean, the first time I heard him was singing in front of an Irish alternative-rock band (U2, "The Wanderer"), and the second time was his cover of a pop-industrial artist (Nine Inch Nails, "Hurt"), and he pulled them both off beautifully. How can you not love that?
Anyway, despite a surprising musical range, I think we can all agree that there are many songs we're happy Johnny Cash *didn't* perform. The top five that Molly and I came up with:
1) Meredith Brooks, "Bitch"
2) Backstreet Boys, "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)"
3) "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts"
4) NWA, "Straight Outta Compton"
5) Yoshie Hayasaka, "No Way! Part 2" (from a Ranma 1/2 soundtrack)
Additions to this list are welcome!
